Hi, I’m Lara.

Born in the Netherlands to an Alaskan father and a Dutch mother, I moved to France at a young age. I studied 2D animation in Lyon, before later moving to Curaçao, where I chose to fully dedicate myself to painting and to the development of my artistic practice.

ABOUT MY WORK :

My work centers primarily around portraiture, while also moving freely into abstraction. I’m drawn to the space where these two approaches meet, where form softens and emotion becomes visible.

Influenced by my interest in psychology and personal development, my paintings often explore subtle emotional states and inner landscapes. I’m particularly inspired by children, whose expressions carry a natural authenticity and presence that I find deeply moving.

Abstract painting allows me to work more intuitively, leaving behind the structural limits of figurative representation. Through this process, I explore emotional and spiritual dimensions, letting the work emerge rather than forcing it.

My practice lives between the tangible and the intangible, a quiet dialogue between what can be seen and what is felt. Through my work, I hope to share a small part of that space with others.
